​​A Few Places to Visit for a Great EV Charging Experience​

You want to drive the Interstate highway system that crosses our country. However, you have an electric vehicle. Can you accomplish the former with the latter?
Absolutely.

There has been a growing number of stories about EV owners taking their vehicles on long-distance cross-country trips. Given the increasing number of charging stations found both along highways and throughout communities across the country, it’s more possible than ever to use an EV on a long journey across South Dakota and beyond our state lines.

For General Motors and Toyota EV owners, there are over 250,000 charging stations to quickly fill up your battery to tackle that long riad trip you always wanted to take. GM have been making investments to expand their network of charging stations through partnerships with Pilot Flying J, EVgo, ChargePoint, and IONNA to make sure you have a seamless experience when visiting these locations. Toyota can use these stations, as well. Your EV is also welcomed at ElectrifyAmerica and some Tesla Superchargers, too! 

Is the charging experience worth it? Would you end up somewhere with nothing around to see or visit? Or get something to eat or drink? According to GM, here are some of the more engaging spots to charge up your EV… 

The town of Jackson in Wyoming is one of the most adventurous spots on this list. You have two National Parks – Yellowstone and Grand Teton – close by, along with some suprb skiing in Jackson Hole. The ChargePoint station in Jackson should be a destination unto itself, when a National Park adventure calls.  

If you’re heading down towards the Mississippi River, St. Louis offers a lot of history and modern amenities. Plus, you can enjoy the city’s signature barbeque, blues and jazz. Now, imagine charging your EV across the river from the Gateway Arch. EVgo has a station with that view in mind in East St. Louis, Illinois. It is an inspiring sight.  

Down in Texas, you can’t get any cooler than Austin. The weather might get hot, but the music is always pumping from every club in town. It seems appropriate that a ChargePoint station on Electric Drive seems to be the right place to add more electricity to your vehicle. There, you can take a walk, bike, check out the bats at the Congress Avenue Bridge, or grab some food nearby.  

Adventure seekers love the astounding landscape of Moab in Utah. The Arches National Park is one attraction for those who like the desolation and majesty f this part of the country. At the Rocky Mountain Power/ElectrifyAmerica station, you get all of the views in its backdrop. You probably would be inspired to get on the taxi after you charge up.  

Going further away from home? Consider charging in the historic Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, DC along the Potomac River. Fitting right in the middle of the tech region in the quaint downtown of Apex, North Carolina. How about downtown Sacramento, California just steps from their state capital? Or, charging up at the famous Daytona Beach where they used to run NASCAR just feet from the ocean.
