How to Catch a Wave Maker – the 2026 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro

On occasion, Toyota introduces a color unique to the TRD Pro line. For 2026, that color is Wave Maker, a very beautiful hue of bright light blue that stands out everywhere. This cool color is one of four available on the 2026 Tundra TRD Pro. Some may mistake this for a wrap. It is not. It is a solid color protected by clearcoat.
Does a color make a difference in what you drive? To find out, we crossed the state line into Minnesota with a Wave Maker 2026 Tundra TRD Pro to check out some off-road vehicle parks and meet up with some Toyota enthusiasts.
Our Wave Maker came with everything you expect in a 2026 Tundra TRD Pro. For example, the 437-horsepower i-FORCE MAX driveline, consisting of a 3.4-liter twin-turbocharged V6, an electric motor sandwiched between it and a 10-speed automatic transmission. All of which put down 583 pound-feet of torque. The 4WDemand part-time four-wheel-drive system features a two-speed transfer case with a switchable Low Range for tougher conditions.
On the 2026 Tundra TRD Pro, you have a few tools you are going to need for off-road driving. The Multi-Terrain Select offers you a choice of preset traction settings for specific conditions. That includes a Mud mode, which we used during our trek. Deep Snow will be useful during our winters, as it enables the right amount of torque to get through unplowed roads.

This pickup truck also came with CRAWL Control and Downhill Assist Control. Both will get you up and down the hills with automatic braking control to keep the 2026 Tundra TRD Pro from slipping while doing either maneuver.
Every 2026 Tundra TRD Pro comes with an off-road suspension featuring FOX shock absorbers. The extra 1.1-inch suspension lift provides more suspension travel to handle deep ruts and uneven sections of trail. All-terrain tires are mounted on 18-inch forged alloy BBS wheels.
One option this Wave Maker 2026 Tundra TRD Pro was equipped with is the TRD Performance Package. This adds dual air intake boxes and TRD cat-back exhaust. The exhaust tips and the badge on the tailgate will let you know if your pickup truck has the upgrade.
Not everything about the 2026 Tundra TRD Pro is about what’s mounted on the box ladder frame. There is a roomy cabin for up to five people, with SofTex upholstery and full of technology and connectivity. All of the controls are tactile, while you will love how chunky the gear lever and key controls feel and operate.
How did this truck fare on our excursion into Minnesota? With sloppy conditions at the off-road park we visited, the 2026 Tundra TRD Pro performed extremely well. Mud mode got us out of the sloppiest parts of the trail, while the FOX shocks and suspension kept us on the surface. The Toyota enthusiasts we met were in awe of the Wave Maker paint color. It is one of those colors you cannot miss, whether in a crowded parking lot or on a trail deep in the woods.
While any pickup truck is useful for many different tasks you ask it to do, the 2026 Tundra TRD Pro will make sure you get through anything year-round—a bonus if you get it in the Wave Maker paint color.
