The 2025 Toyota 4Runner Offers Five Really Cool Features For Your Next Adventure

Whether you are heading to the Black Hills or a long drive up to Fargo, the 2025 Toyota 4Runner has a lot of great features to discover along the way. Some of these things will actually make your journey a more enjoyable one.
U.S. News and World Report took a look at the 2025 4Runner Trailhunter to discover five of its coolest features. While some of these features are found on other 4Runner trim levels, others are exclusive to our top-of-the-line model, developed for overlanding and further adventures beyond the highway.
One such exclusive feature of the 2025 4Runner Trailhunter is the built-in air compressor located just inside the cargo hold on the passenger side. It works to not only adjust the air pressure inside your tires, but also to put air into some of your camping or recreational items – including inflatable rafts. It saves one additional item to bring to your adventure by having it inside your 2025 4Runner Trailhunter.

Another cool item that is exclusive to the 2025 4Runner Trailhunter is the snorkel. When you are out in the desert or in a place where the atmosphere can be challenging, the snorkel serves as an extension of the air intake system of your i-FORCE MAX engine. It prevents the engine from taking in a lot of dust from the outside. Keep in mind that the snorkel is not designed for underwater driving. However, the 2025 4Runner has a wading depth of around 27.5 inches. Another benefit from the snorkel is what the U.S. News and World Report team has described as “turbo noises.” It was an “unexpected” benefit, but one you might enjoy.
In capable off-road vehicles, getting the maximum traction and maneuverability is a top priority, which is why the 2025 4Runner Trailhunter and the TRD Pro trim levels offer a Stabilizer Disconnect Mechanism. When the stabilizer bar is disconnected, the 2025 4Runner can articulate on uneven terrain. They also keep the wheels on the surface to regain traction through these obstacles. To disengage the stabilizer bar, just push the button.
U.S. News and World Report loved the fact that several 2025 4Runner trim levels offer the JBL FLEX portable Bluetooth speaker. This is part of the standard JBL Premium Sound System on the Trailhunter, TRD Pro, TRD Off Road Premium, Limited, and Platinum trim levels. Located on top of the dashboard, you can detach the speaker and take it with you to the campsite or a tailgate.

What really won over the U.S. News and World Report team was the design of this fifth-generation 2025 4Runner. Dating back to 1984, the Toyota 4Runner has always fulfilled its mission with styling points that make it distinctive on the trail and out on the road. The wrap-up rearmost side window dates back to the first- and second-generation models. The power rear liftgate window is also a signature design seen across all four previous generations.
In its appreciation of the design nods to the 4Runner’s past, U.S. News and World Report pointed out that “[n]ostalgia is a powerful, emotional force, and automakers frequently lean into popular models from decades past to inform and promote new models. Toyota is no stranger to this strategy.” However, we must point out that the 2025 4Runner shares its platform and design with the Toyota Tacoma pickup truck – a tradition that dates back to its first generation.
