The Chevy Bolt Is Back And Costs Less Than $30,000

January 5th, 2026 by

The Chevy Bolt is back and better than ever! Available at launch, the 2027 Bolt LT will have a starting price of just $29,990, with a lower-priced LT model offered for only $28,995 later in the year. With an estimated range of 255 miles and fast charging from 10% to 80% in just 26 minutes, customers will finally have an affordable and reliable electric vehicle option for under $30,000.

A Word from Chevrolet

“The Chevrolet Bolt was the industry’s first affordable mass-market, long-range EV, and it commanded one of GM’s most loyal customer bases thanks to its price, versatility, and practicality,” said Scott Bell, Vice President, Global Chevrolet.

Chevy EVs Lead the Future

“The Chevy Bolt adds to our already successful EV portfolio,” Bell said. “With Equinox EV as America’s most affordable EV with more than 315 miles of EPA-estimated range10, and Bolt offering the most range in an EV under $30,000, Chevy is leading the way on EV affordability without compromise.”

Convenient Features to Keep Owners Safe

Some of the features that will make the Bolt unique, especially at this price, are its vehicle-to-home bi-directional charging capability, which, when paired with a GM Energy Home System, will allow owners to use the Bolt as a generator to power certain functions of their home when the power goes out due to hurricanes, snowstorms, or the like. This feature, which is typically available on much more expensive EVs, demonstrates how Chevrolet aims to provide its customers with the absolute best experience without requiring a significant investment.

Standard Technology

The Bolt also comes standard with an 11.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Google Built-in, where you can simply say “Hey, Google” to use the advanced voice assistance system to help you navigate to a point of interest, set the climate control, heated seats, voice-to-text, make phone calls, and even smart home commands when set up properly. Standard on all models is an 11-inch configurable digital instrument cluster that displays all relevant information the driver needs, such as speed, range, efficiency, and more.

Fun Features

When the Bolt is parked, you can also take advantage of the infotainment system by downloading various apps from the Google Play Store, such as Angry Birds, HBO Max, Prime Video, Chrome, GameSnacks, Tubi, and many more.

Super Cruise Is Truly the Most Advanced Feature

With available Super Cruise advanced driver-assistance technology, drivers can take their hands off the wheel and enjoy a relaxing cruise on more than 750,000 mapped roads between the United States and Canada. When you need to change lanes, simply use your turn signal and the Bolt will handle the rest. Chevrolet has synced the built-in Google Maps with Super Cruise, ensuring you’re in the correct lane when needing to take an exit or interchange.

One Pedal Driving

Drivers will appreciate how the Bolt drives. For those who are new to EVs, the Bolt allows owners to engage or disengage the One-Pedal Driving mode. With the feature engaged, simply taking your foot off the throttle will automatically slow the car. Having it disengaged means the Bolt will operate like any non-electric vehicle on the road; take your foot off the throttle, and the car coasts, meaning you will have to apply the brakes manually.

More Ways to Charge

The Bolt is the first Chevrolet to come with a native NACS charging port, which expands the usability of the car with other charging networks. On Level 3 DC fast chargers, the Bolt can charge at speeds up to 150 kW, which is said to be 2.5 times faster than the previous Bolt EV. As mentioned earlier, this feature enables the Bolt to charge from 10-80% in just 26 minutes. Since the Bolt has an estimated range of 255 miles, drivers will have ample range to accomplish everything they need to do in a day.

Trim Levels

As of now, Chevrolet has said the all-new 2027 Bolt will be available in standard LT and sporty RS trims. The RS model will offer a special grille badge, high-gloss black wheels and roof rails, along with unique colors that include Habanero Orange and Atomic Yellow with red accent stitching throughout the interior.
