MotorTrend recently took a Tundra SR5 TRD Rally packaged truck and did tons of on-road and off-road testing with it. The truck came away glowing with what you’ll get for such a low price. The as-tested price of their truck was just $62,397, a relative bargain.  

Price and Power 

The SR5 trim level is priced from $49,955 and is offered with a 3.4-liter V6 engine that produces 389 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque that will move this truck down the road much faster than you’ll expect, especially thanks to its quick-shifting 10-speed automatic transmission. Once you add 4WD for an additional $3,000 you can select the $8,660 TRD Rally package.  

What The TRD Rally Package Includes 

The TRD Rally package includes unique 18-in. TRD Off-Road wheels wrapped in 265/70/18 Michelin LTX Trail all-terrain tires, off-road suspension with Bilstein shocks, skid plates, and mudguards, a TRD exhaust, the tri-color decals on the grille, front doors, and tailgate, electronically controlled locking rear differential, Multi-Terrain Select, Crawl Control, Downhill Assist Control, plus a red TRD engine start button, TRD leather-wrapped shift knob, TRD leather-wrapped steering wheel, aluminum pedals, and SofTex-trimmed tri-color seats with yellow and orange stitching.

“Driven hard, the truck responds agreeably. Under aggressive acceleration, the transmission shifts smoothly and quite imperceptibly, while the engine pulls strongly across the rev range. Zero to 60 happens in 6.1 seconds and the quarter mile is achieved in 14.5 seconds at 95.9 mph. Braking, too, yields well-behaved body control. This Tundra SR5 TRD Rally package tolerates hard straight-line braking, as well as light trail-braking.”
