Welcome The 2027 Corvette Grand Sport To The World

The eighth-generation Corvette was released on the streets in 2020 to a fanbase that had been waiting for a mid-engine Corvette longer than we’ve been waiting to go back to the moon. To be clear, the first concept Corvette with a mid-engine layout was shown in 1964 as a race car, but an actual show car debuted in 1968, not long before we stepped foot on the moon. Between then and the C8, Chevrolet developed seven different mid-engine concepts based on the Corvette.
The Corvette Gets a Brand-New Engine with A Classic Name
Welcome to 2026, and at six years old, the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is getting a massive upgrade for the 2027 model year with a brand new 6.7-liter V8 called the LS6, a callback to the 5.7-liter 2001-2004 C5 Corvette Z06 and the classic C3 Corvette with its monstrous 7.4-liter 454 cubic inch engine. This replaces the current LT2 6.2-liter motor that makes 492 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque.
A Word from Chevrolet
“There is no replacement for displacement! Our next generation LS6 engine pushes 409 cubic inches of jackhammer fury through the tailpipes,” said Mike Kociba, assistant chief engineer, Next Generation V8. “Combining large displacement, modern technology, and proven Small Block V8 heritage will deliver a bold new chapter in performance.”
Oh, And Welcome the Corvette Grand Sport
Along with the fresh, new engine, Corvette has released the all-new 2027 Grand Sport and Grand Sport X, both powered by the LS6. The standard, rear-wheel-drive Grand Sport develops 535 horsepower and 520 lb-ft of torque. The Grand Sport X delivers 721 horsepower thanks to a 1.9 kWh front-axle electric motor donated from the ZR1X, which itself has 186 horsepower and 145 lb-ft of torque. Like the E-Ray and ZR1X, the Grand Sport X will also feature eAWD.
Electric Driving Modes
The Grand Sport X can also be driven up to 50 mph in electric-only Stealth mode and 23 mph in Shuttle mode. In these drive modes, the V8 is not engaged, enabling an ultra-quiet drive. Shuttle mode is specifically convenient for those who need to move their cars slowly around their driveway or in and out of their garage without waking everyone in the house.

Grand Sport Standard Features
Regular Grand Sport models come standard with Magnetic Ride Control, making the Corvette the ultimate sports car with both comfortable and sporty suspension settings that make it a great daily driver and highway cruiser. Optioning the Z52 Sport Performance Package stiffens the suspension and adds Michelin Pilot Sport 4S summer tires (instead of the standard Pilot Sport All-Season 4+ tires) and the J56 iron brakes from the Z06 supercar.
Grand Sport Optional Features
For those who need the ultimate in track performance for their Corvette Grand Sport, you can option the Z52 Track Performance Package, which increases braking performance with J57 carbon-ceramic brakes and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tires, along with a more track-tuned suspension. A new carbon fiber front splitter, dive planes, rockers, a unique wing, and strakes from the Z06 under the car that control underbody airflow add to the hardcore nature of this package.
Grand Sport X Features
The Grand Sport X comes standard with carbon-ceramic brakes and Michelin Pilot Sport All-Season 4+ tires; Michelin Pilot Sport 4S summer tires are optional.
Grand Sport X Track Performance
Inspired by the ZR1X, the Grand Sport X also offers unique ways to use its front axle battery to maximize track performance. In Endurance mode, the Charge+ button lets drivers control the amount of energy stored for more laps around the track, while Qualifying mode uses more power to set a better lap time. The Push-to-Pass mode uses all available power on demand for the quickest hot lap.

An Old Color Becomes New Again
Like previous C4, C6, and C7 generations before the C8, the Grand Sport features the same style hash marks in various colors on the fender to signify how special the car is. For the 2027 Grand Sport, Chevrolet is bringing back Admiral Blue Metallic, the color worn by all C4 Grand Sports in 1996. Buyers can opt for the Launch Edition, which features a Santorini Blue-Dipped interior with red stitching and accents. The Grand Sport logo gets embossed on the headrests. In addition to Admiral Blue Metallic, buyers can choose Arctic White and Pitch Gray Metallic.
